There are hundreds of pages devoted to Parker on the internet and quick search will find most of them. Here are my selection of interesting ones that might not get the recognition they deserve.

Leonard Feather An Englishman who was a friend of Parker's and was a pall bearer at Charlie's funeral.

Ted Joans - The man who wrote "Bird Lives" on the walls in Greenwich Village after Parker's death. More Ted Joans, with a painted Bird!!

The Charlie Parker database on the Miles Ahead website. Invaluable for tracking down those elusive Bird tracks.

William P. Gottlieb If there were one photographer that perhaps captured the spirit of an age, the 'zeitgeist', if you like, it was William P. Gottlieb. His work photographing the great jazz luminaries of the forties and fifties is an essential catalogue of that era and his pictures of Charlie are arguably, the most popular and easily recognised.

The Charlie Parker Society of Japan and the Charlie Parker collection at Bird's Legacy are both wonderful examples of the universal appeal of Bird's music. Bird's Legacy has a marvellous collection of images of published materials, enough to make any Parkerite's mouth water! Here's another one with a good message board. Chasin' the Bird

The Charlie Parker Residence was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in l994 by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Also more Joans

The Charlie Parker Memorial in Kansas.

Philology. Paolo Piangiarelli, the 'keeper of the flame'. Has produced 72 volumes of Parker rarities and is the only real source for Parkerite's trying to own rare issues.

This one is just awesome

So is this....

This is very intersting page with lots to look at and to listen too!

This is the website of the late Esther Bubley who took the pictures of Charlie, et al, at the 1952 Jam Session orgainsed by Norman Granz!

Jazz Professional. A site about British Jazz, but with an interview archive that is second to none. Also a marvellous Parker recollection by Rowland Greenberg. An awesome Jazz resource.

Can't miss out my brother's Soul website, Soulwalking. A site dedicated to Soul music in all it's various aspects with respects paid to jazz influences. The site is by far and away the greatest soul resource on the net. Respect.

MemorabiliaRocks.co.uk: A new, non-profit making site that advises on collecting music memorabilia. Mostly rock but with a growing list of articles on jazz. Look under 'Early Memorabilia'...
